Reading groups are being reconfigured to reflect the middle of the year progress monitoring.

Mr. Willis's Group:

Focus: Blending, Snap Word Recognition

  • Blending letter sounds together 
  • Sounding out unfamiliar words
  • Memorizing more snap words

Ms. Newquist's Group:

Focus: See Mr. Willis’ group, Students will use various strategies to read grade level books

  • Continuing to work on previous strategies
  • Checking while you read: Does it sound right? Does it look right? Does it make sense?

Ms. Chrissy's Group:

Focus: See Ms. Newquist’s group, continue to build comprehension strategies

  • Reading with expression
  • Talking about books with partners to support comprehension
