Gifted and Talented (GATE)

GATE News

The GATE program, for identified gifted and talented students, at Melrose works to create high end learning opportunities for our students. Our faculty works together at grade level to plan projects and assignments with the needs of our gifted learners in mind, and include the higher level thinking skills on Bloom's taxonomy as assignment elements. We also have excellent resources that can be fine-tuned to each student in DreamBox.  Project-based learning, where students develop questions for inquiry, is particularly well suited to gifted learners. Periodically throughout the school year, the Melrose GATE Coordinator and GATE parents meet to review curriculum and discuss support for the students involved in the program.

Please take time to view the PowerPoint presentations compiled by Sachiko Miyaji (2nd grade Melrose Teacher and GATE Coordinator) (Located on right curriculum locker)
